About
I grew up in Ireland and moved to Seattle, where I studied Graphic Design and Illustration at Seattle Central Community College with plans to become a freelance illustrator. That path changed after taking an HTML class at the School of Visual Concepts. I was hooked by the mix of creativity and problem-solving and started my career hand-coding for the web.
As my career evolved, I found myself increasingly drawn to interaction design, user research, and user-centered design. Wanting a deeper foundation in that work, I completed a Graduate Certificate in User-Centered Design at the University of Washington. Later, as I moved from individual contributor roles into UX management at POP, I also completed a Graduate Certificate in Design Firm Leadership and Management.
My time at Microsoft, Amazon, and Google deepened my perspective as a designer, researcher, and leader. In 2017, I completed a Masters in Design Management through Staffordshire University in the UK, where my thesis explored how design can be more effectively integrated into technology companies.
I am a lifelong learner who cares deeply about the design profession, about helping teams solve meaningful problems, and about creating environments where good ideas can grow. I am excited to keep building thoughtful products with smart, collaborative people.
